The museum has a collection of 249 artworks by Kotaro Migishi, a Sapporo-born painter who died at the tender age of 31years. Seventy of these are permanently exhibited.

Migishi continued to innovate throughout his life. The exhibits include his major works, as well as paintings and letters from his junior high school days. All the exhibits are worth taking time to enjoy, as they demonstrate Migishi’s artistic sense and his attitude of pursuing the world of beauty.

Twice a year, special exhibitions of Migishi’s works are held. Also, recitals and concerts are held in the museum.

Open: 9:30AM – 5PM (last admission: 4:30PM)
Closed: Mon. (open on Mon. that fall on a nat’l holiday), year-end and New Year’s holidays; additional holidays when exhibits change
Admission: 450 yen for adults
220 yen for college and high school students
Note: Admission fee of special exhibitions varies by exhibition.
Access: A 10- min. walk from the No. 4 Exit of Nishi juhatchome Subway Sta. (Tozai Line).
Note: Taxi fare is about 800 yen from Sapporo Sta.
Parking (free): 3 cars. In addition, parking at the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art (North 1-jo Nishi 18-chome) is available at a discount.
