Moerenuma Park was planned as the main northern park in the“Kanjo Dream”Greenbelt Project, which aims to construct parks and greenbelts in central Sapporo.
The basic design of the park was drafted in 1988 by Isamu Noguchi, a famous sculptor known for his designs of parks and gardens. Moerenuma Park is designed as if the park itself were a single sculpture. It opened in July 2005.
Sakura-no-Mori(Cherry Forest)is installed with more than 120 pieces of playground equipment. Moere Beach is a water park. Play Mountain is an overlook. There are tennis courts and an athletic ground.
