| At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, the large-hill ski jump competition (then called the 90-m-hill jump competition) was held here. Visitors can ride a lift to the start point (elev.: 300 m). The observatory lounge is popular among tourists, as it commands a splendid view of Sapporo and the Ishikari Plain.
At the Sapporo Winter Sports Museum on the premises here, visitors can learn the history of winter sports from exhibits and can use simulators to experience ski jumping and biathlon competition.

Access: About 20 min. from JR Sapporo Sta. by taxi (about 2,000 yen). Or from Maruyama-koen Subway Sta. (Tozai Line), ride the "Araiyama-sen Nishi 14" JR Hokkaido Bus to the Okurayama-kyogijo iriguchi or the Okurayama-jump-kyogijo-iriguchi bus stop and walk about 10 min., or ride "Shuttle Bus Nishi-jugo" of JR Hokkaido Bus to the same bus stops. The shuttle bus operates Sat., Sun., and nat’l holidays from late Apr. to early Nov.
