Welcome to a Sapporo of four shining seasons.

Sapporo Salmon Museum

This museum was constructed to help visitors understand the life history of salmon, including how they return to the Toyohira River. Construction took place after citizens formed the “Come Back, Salmon!” Movement, a movement to clean the Toyohira River so that more salmon would return. Models and specimens of salmon and panels on salmon are displayed. In the outdoor observation channel, visitors can observe salmon spawning in autumn and salmon alevins in spring. The indoor aquarium exhibits rainbow trout, landlocked salmon and Sakhalin taimen (Hucho perryi).
