With the coming of winter, we have more and more snowy days, the season of winter sports starting, usually from the end of Nov., when we have to be prepared for the snow, changing our shoes, car-tires, covering the trees and others for the protection from snow.

Some people think this is quite troublesome, others think it as the starting of exciting time of sports in snow. It’s true cold winter often causes some particular troubles, but it also brings advantages , especially water, abundant good quality of water brought from snow, frees us from the worry about water-shortage all the year round. This excellent quality water enables us to drink best tap water. to grow various kinds of good food, making best Japanese sake or beer, etc.. We owe quite a lot to the blessing of Nature here.

Sapporo in winter time is an exciting place to visit, with many amusements starting from White Illumination.
Not to mention skiing or skating, you will find many different ways of enjoying winter here.

Even after falling their green leaves in autumn, the vivid berries are left on the mountain ash tree, the contrast of red berries against the white snow is pretty in winter.
